Risk disclosure
Trading CFDs, forex, cryptocurrencies and other leveraged instruments carries a high risk of losing money quickly. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
Not investment advice
BacktestLab is a software tool. It is not a broker, an investment adviser or a portfolio manager. Nothing on the site — including example backtests, research and articles — is a recommendation to buy or sell any instrument.
Past results do not guarantee future results
A backtest shows how a set of rules would have behaved on historical data. Markets change; a strategy that worked in the past may lose money in the future. Results can also be inflated by tuning rules to the same history they are tested on — this is why we show reliability checks next to every result.
Live trading differs from a backtest
Even with one engine for the backtest and the bot, live results can differ: real spreads widen around news and at the session open, orders can be filled at a worse price or not at all, connections and terminals fail, and brokers change conditions. Monitor a running bot and start with a small risk.
Leverage
Leverage multiplies both profits and losses. Whether the balance can go negative depends on the broker: check whether your broker offers negative balance protection.
Your responsibility
You decide which strategies to run, on which account and with what risk. You are responsible for your trading decisions and their results.
